Organizing Your Website Menu

Organizing your website content into a website menu is much like creating chapters and section headings in a book.
The best way to start is to decide what your “chapters” or MAIN MENU ITEMS are going to be. Most websites have these types of main menu items, but by no means are all of them necessary for your website, nor are these all the options available to you.

Once you have decided what the main menu items will be for your website, you can determine if your site will need “section headings” which would be the SUB-MENU ITEMS. Here is the same list of main menu items with sub-menu items listed beneath them. For a menu that includes sub-menu options, a drop-down or expandable menu would be necessary.
